RWC Puzzle

WALT find specific information
WALT put information into our own words
WALT increase our knowledge of the Rugby World Cup

We created this because the World Cup was on.
We created this by answering questions which we found the information for on our class site.  We put the answers onto puzzle pieces, coloured them in, cut them out and then glued them onto black paper to make a rugby ball shaped puzzle.

Finding the Area of a Shape

WALT find the area of a shape in square centimeters.

We explored shapes by covering them with square centimeter cubes and counting how many cubes it took to cover the shape.

We then drew shapes on grid paper and counted how many squares our shapes covered.

Fairy Tales in Te Reo Maori

WALT retell fairy tales in Te Reo Maori
WALT make a movie using iMovie

We created this to help celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori (Maori Language Week)
We created this by taking a video of the little puppets moving.  Then we took off any background noise and recorded our voices saying the Te Reo Maori for the fairy tale. We then added titles to show the English translation and who made the video.

Reflection: It was wonderful to have Tuatara come in and help us with Google Drawings.  It was hard to put the information into our own words.  Google drawings was sometimes frustrating!

Tane and the Baskets of Knowledge

At the end of Term 2 as part of our Matariki Celebrations and our Term 2 Learning around "Our Stories" Kowhai class learnt the legend of Tane and Baskets of Knowledge and performed a dramatisation of this at our Celebration Assembly at the end of Term 2.

WALT organise our ideas in our writing into basic paragraphs so that we are only talking about one thing or person at a time.

In my family I have  Mum,dad ,my brother and me.

My dad is called Lawrence.
He is a builder.
 my  dad lives in Cable Bay.
 He a 39 years old.
 my dad was born in  Auckland.
 He likes to watch TV.

 My mum is Shannon.
 She is 38 years old.
 she Lives in Cable Bay.
She was born in Auckland.
She likes to eat chocolate.

My brother is called Liam.
  He is 6 years old.
 He is my  brother.
 He is very  annoying.

 He loves to watch his tablet.

I have a cat his name is Robbie.
He is cute, he is grey.
 He likes to sleep in my bed and my mum's bed.

She likes to sleep in my mum's bed.

 She is 21 years old.
She is cute.

I have a puppy called cookie.
She is naughty because she chases cars.
She bites me and i say “stop it!”

She likes  to sleep in the sun,she is black.

Digital Pepeha

Anthony says...
Two things I think I did really well were putting the moving background on and using the cursive writing.

Next time I would like to work more on the position of the pictures on the slide.

Kowahi and Nga Ringa's Experiment

WALT: explore what happens when dishwashing liquid, milk and food colouring are mixed.

We put milk into a bowl and then we got food colouring and put that around the bowl.


Then we put dishwasing liquid into the bowl and watched what happened.
The colours in some bowls mixed together because some people mixed the dishwashing liqiud in,  some colors zoomed away from the diswashing liquid like an explosion.
